Working as one of the creative leads in a flexible role with different responsibilities, we started from scratch building the brand up from its initial visual identity and product design, before expanding to the packaging and e-commerce.
This was a valuable project to participate in as it allowed me to work on a brand from beginning to launch. It also allowed me to work with others from different industry backgrounds such as manufacturers and retailers.

A solo design – Build the watch label from scratch

Branding

ATMOZ is a company that specialises in watch design. The brief was to create a range of watches and the brand identity inspired by the theme of Space.

With the logo acting as a visual icon, the design required a minimal appearance to allow for clear legibility on small applications such as a watch dial.
The name ATMOZ derives from the term ‘Atmosphere’ – to describe the layer of gases surrounding Earth. As a result, the “O” was emphasized using the negative space to subtly represent the concept.

The logo was patented in late 2015, with the aim of launching the packaging and product in mid-2017.

The visual identity remains a work in progress for now, however the goal is to create a full library of graphical elements that will help create a consistent and distinct look for the future.

Product Design

It was a challenging yet exciting project for me because I was tasked to build the complete watch label from A to Z without the help of other designers. This was a real test of time management skills and my ability to work under pressure to strict deadlines.
The ATMOZ team came up with the idea to create a watch series that had an interchangeable system to provide customers with a greater level of customization. This involved many complex stages in order to create a unique interchangeable system that allowed an individual timepiece to be transformed into various forms and functions to suit different styles.
Many ideas were generated, but the skeletonise dial was chosen to pay tribute to the ‘First Man in Space’ – Mr Yuri Gagarin (1934-1968) who successfully orbited the Planet Earth in 108 minutes by spacecraft Vostok 1.

I participated in all the product CAD and technical drawings in order to successfully communicate the concepts to other team members and external partners.

The product was patented in mid-2016 with the aim to launch in mid-2017.
